Low-Carbon Energy in the Mideast Gulf: Saudi Arabia and UAE Seize the Initiative

The uptake of low-carbon energy in the Mideast Gulf in the coming years is likely to be surprisingly fast. Energy Intelligence finds that the region has cost competitive renewables and few reservations about using low-cost Chinese technology. Some states – principally Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates – see strategic value in embracing low-carbon energy while still championing hydrocarbons.
